Fantasy Football Week 5 Waiver Wire Targets

David Montgomery hurt? The Eagles RB room continues to take hits? Packers players surging? Some familiar QB faces in the top 10? Let's dive into the Week 5 Waiver Wire Targets!
Woody Marks - RB, Texans
David Montgomery left Sunday’s game with a groin injury and is now considered week to week, potentially opening the door for Marks to handle a larger workload. Marks (15 carries for 62 yards, 4 receptions for 23 yards) was much more efficient with his opportunities than Monty, making him an appealing speculative add at least for the near-term. However, temper expectations with Houston’s struggling offensive line, which will limit him.
Jordan Love - QB, Packers
Love is tied for fifth in the NFL with 10 passing touchdowns and ranks third in passing yards. Green Bay has been forced to lean more heavily on its passing game amid an inconsistent running attack, and Love is starting to respond with strong production. He’s a priority target for managers looking for a quarterback upgrade, especially with his combination of passing volume and touchdown production.
MarShawn Lloyd - RB, Packers
There are many, like me, who dropped Lloyd a couple weeks ago after he has been a complete nonfactor as Green Bay's lead back. Now is the time to get him if he's still out there. The efficiency is still not great, but someone has to tote the rock for them. Chris Brooks, who was Lloyd's main competition for touches, was just placed on IR and Kaleb Johnson only had a 15% snap share this week. With all the RB injuries, he's a worthwhile pickup for your flex.
Kendre Miller - RB, Saints
Ashton Jeanty hasn’t looked like himself while dealing with injuries, creating a potential opportunity for Washington if Las Vegas decides to give its rookie running back time to recover. Washington’s snap count was low Sunday, but don’t read too much into Dylan Laube’s involvement. Laube was primarily handling passing downs, leaving Washington as a potential beneficiary if Jeanty misses time. Washington’s PPR upside could be limited, but the potential for a starting workload makes him a priority stash.
Kirk Cousins - QB, Raiders
Cousins is tied for second in the NFL with 12 passing touchdowns, putting him among the league’s most productive quarterbacks through five weeks. Despite the Raiders’ ugly loss to New England, his fantasy production has remained strong. With that kind of touchdown output, Cousins deserves consideration if you need quarterback help or have a quarterback on bye.
Aaron Rodgers - QB, Steelers
Rodgers is tied for fifth in the NFL with 10 passing touchdowns and has thrown three touchdown passes in each of his last three games. That recent stretch demonstrates his potential to deliver high-end fantasy production even without elite rushing upside. With a favorable schedule ahead, Rodgers is an appealing streaming option for managers who need help at quarterback.
Jameis Winston - QB, Giants
Winston has thrown three touchdown passes in back-to-back games, demonstrating the upside of his aggressive approach. His willingness to push the ball downfield creates opportunities for big fantasy performances, particularly when the passing volume is high. Turnovers remain a concern, but managers looking for a streaming quarterback should take notice of his recent touchdown production.
C.J. Stroud - QB, Texans
Stroud ranks fourth in the NFL in passing yards, making him an intriguing option for fantasy managers looking for a quarterback with a high-volume passing profile. The return of Nico Collins from his hamstring injury has helped Houston’s passing attack, and the addition of Marvin Harrison Jr. should further improve Stroud’s outlook. If the Texans continue leaning on the passing game, Stroud has the potential to provide consistent fantasy value.
Tyler Higbee - TE, Rams
Higbee has scored double-digit fantasy points in three consecutive games while earning 23 targets over that stretch. That sustained volume is particularly encouraging at a position where reliable opportunities are difficult to find. The Rams’ willingness to involve their tight ends, combined with increased passing volume in negative game scripts and two-minute drills, makes Higbee a worthwhile addition for managers searching for a weekly starter.
Brenton Strange - TE, Jaguars
Strange has recorded eight targets in each of his last two games, translating that opportunity into consecutive double-digit fantasy performances. Consistent target volume is exactly what you should look for when evaluating which tight end to plug into your starting lineup.
Dameon Pierce - RB, Eagles
Philadelphia’s running back room continues to take hits, with Will Shipley the latest injury (partially torn plantar fascia). Pierce should potentially see more opportunities now as the presumed lead back for the Eagles, assuming they don't make a free agency signing. However, this offensive line has struggled mightily, and Pierce’s limited efficiency makes him a desperation stash rather than a priority pickup.
Raheim Sanders - RB, Browns
Quinshon Judkins is dealing with an ankle "tweak" and is considered day to day, potentially opening the door for Sanders to earn additional work. If Judkins misses any time, Sanders move up the depth chart and could become the next man up. However, Sanders also sustained an injury of his own but we don't know the severity. He’s a very deep-league stash for managers with Judkins as a starter.
