Fantasy Football Week 8 Waiver Wire Targets

Week 8 delivered some unexpected fantasy performances, and the waiver wire is heating up. From breakout performances to potential injury replacements and backfield stashes, here are 10 players worth putting in your claims for!

Running Backs

Mike Washington Jr. - Raiders

Washington rushed 25 times for 83 yards against the Jets, receiving 25 of the Raiders’ 28 running back carries. Surprisingly, Ashton Jeanty only had a couple carries while Washington had nearly all the rushing work. Washington is a HIGH PRIORITY add — we don’t know if this trend will continue but he’s worth picking up in case it does.

—

Tyler Allgeier – Cardinals

Allgeier exploded for 191 total yards and two touchdowns against Dallas, finishing with 33.6 PPR points. Jeremiyah Love exited early with an ankle injury, while Bam Knight suffered a concussion. Allgeier suddenly has a massive opportunity to take over Arizona’s backfield, potentially becoming a workhorse if both backs miss time.

—

Kaelon Black – 49ers

Black remains a valuable handcuff behind Christian McCaffrey. He previously delivered 12 carries for 63 yards and a touchdown against Atlanta. With CMC managing a mild hamstring issue, Black could become a must-start option if McCaffrey isn’t at 100% and needs additional rest this week.

—

Elijah Mitchell – Eagles

Mitchell received 15 touches against Washington, rushing 11 times for 34 yards and catching four passes. He led Philadelphia in rushing yards while Saquon Barkley’s workload was managed due to a back injury. With Barkley struggling to stay healthy and Dameon Pierce on IR, Mitchell could see an expanded role moving forward.

—

Seth McGowan – Colts

McGowan is a speculative stash with Jonathan Taylor’s name appearing in trade discussions. If Taylor is traded, McGowan could quickly become a fantasy-relevant running back.

—

Devin Singletary – Giants

Singletary is a potential short-term starter with Tyrone Tracy Jr. placed on injured reserve and Cam Skattebo dealing with a hamstring injury. Singletary finished with 41 rushing yards and a touchdown against Houston, plus three catches. Even if Skattebo is healthy, Singletary will get a nice complement of snaps to spell Skattebo.

—

Wide Receivers

Jordyn Tyson – Saints

Tyson is an high-upside rookie. The rookie has yet to make his NFL debut, but his potential role alongside Chris Olave makes him worth monitoring. His availability and health will determine whether he can become a meaningful fantasy contributor, but he should be returning hopefully in the next week or two.

—

Adonai Mitchell – Jets

Mitchell delivered a breakout performance against Las Vegas, catching seven of nine targets for 142 yards and a touchdown. His 142 receiving yards ranked among the top performances by wide receivers in Week 8. After returning from a finger injury, Mitchell is back on the fantasy radar and could see an expanded role if he continues earning targets. The only problem is you don’t know which of New York’s receivers will blow up any given week.

—

Ryan Flournoy – Cowboys

Flournoy remains an interesting deep-league receiver to monitor. He has now had double-digit points in the last four games straight.
