My Secret Sauce to Winning your Fantasy Draft
What if you could see exactly which players your draft room is overvaluing—and which players are being overlooked? I’ve used this strategy in my own fantasy drafts with great results, and honestly, I debated whether I should share it. But I decided it was too good not to. By combining rankings you trust with the rankings on your fantasy platform and using AI to identify the biggest differences, you can build a personalized draft cheat sheet in minutes. Here’s how I do it—and how you can use it to find bargains your league mates might miss.

It has worked really well for me in fantasy drafts, and part of me wanted to keep it as my little secret.
But I’ve decided I want more people to know about it.
The strategy is simple: find the players your draft room is mispricing.
Step 1: Start with rankings you trust
Take your own player rankings or use the rankings from your favorite fantasy analyst.
Put them into a spreadsheet alongside the rankings being used by your fantasy platform.
Step 2: Let AI find the differences
This is where it gets really interesting.
I use AI to create a spreadsheet that compares the two rankings and calculates the difference for every player.
Then have it flag:
🟢 Bargains = players ranked significantly higher by your preferred rankings than by the platform
🔴 Overpriced players = players the platform ranks significantly higher than your preferred rankings
Now you have something much more useful than a generic rankings list.
You have a draft-specific value board.
Why this works
Every fantasy platform has its own rankings.
And those rankings aren’t going to perfectly match yours.
That creates opportunities.
If you believe Player A is a top-40 player but your platform has him ranked 70th, you know you can probably wait on him.
If the platform has Player B ranked 25th but you have him at 60, you know there’s a good chance you’re paying too much.
You’re not trying to outsmart everyone in the draft.
You’re simply looking for the biggest disconnects between what you believe and what your draft room believes.
That’s where the bargains are.
And that might just be my favorite fantasy draft strategy.
Don’t draft against ADP. Draft against your opponents’ expectations.
